All Is Set For Lagos Boat Regatta 2024 , Come Saturday December 21
The Lagos State Government has announced that the Lagos Boat Regatta 2024, Africa’s largest aquatic festival, will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the picturesque Five Cowries Creek, Lagos.
This signature event, celebrated for showcasing the rich cultural heritage and dynamic aquatic traditions of Lagos, promises an unparalleled experience filled with vibrant displays, thrilling competitions, and captivating performances.
The day’s activities will commence with a traditional opening ceremony, including the Governor’s Fleet Procession, led by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries. The grand parade will officially usher in the festivities, setting the tone for a day of splendour and excitement.
A key attraction of the Regatta is the spectacular boat parade by the five Ibile divisions, featuring over 200 exquisitely decorated boats from Lagos’ indigenous communities. These creative masterpieces will reflect the artistry, traditions, and cultural pride of the people of Lagos.
Adding to the visual grandeur, private boat owners will showcase their vessels in a dazzling display of creativity and style.
The Regatta will also feature an array of competitive rowing events, including 4-man, 8-man, 10-man and 20-man boat races, promising unparalleled excitement and entertainment.
The celebration will culminate in a night of electrifying performances by some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, including Niniola, Joeboy, and 9ice, among others. These performances will take place on Lagos’ iconic floating barge stage, providing a one-of-a-kind waterfront concert experience.
